One of the biggest objections that most people bring up for why they can’t start a blog is not being able to develop enough content for it. For those who feel this way, consider hiring a professional blogger to provide web content for your business blog. This can be very beneficial as you will receive well-written content for your blog and your online presence will be kept up-to-date.
For the rest of us, let’s take a look at ways that we can develop ideas for content on our blogs. The following list is in no particular order.
~ Read other blogs in your field. What are the hot topics? What are people commenting on most? What questions are being asked?
~ Reference a blog post or article that you found interesting. Demonstrate why you agree or why you disagree with every aspect of it. Be honest and put it all out there.
~ Pay attention to the news as it pertains to your niche. What topics are hot?
~ Review the comments on your blog. Are there questions that you can answer in a blog post?
~ What success have had you had in your business? Can you share tips with your readers to recreate your success?
~ The same goes for any failures your business has experienced. Detail what you learned and what you would do differently in the future.
~ Put yourself in your customer’s shoes. If you were your customer, what would you want to know? What would you like to learn? What would make you come back for more?
~ Interview someone in your company or another blogger within your niche.
~ Trade guests posts with another business within your niche that is not your competition.
~ Set up a Google alert for your business name and use what people are saying about your company as topics.
~ Profile your clients or customers. Have they experienced success because of your company? Do they have an inspirational story?
~ If your company has a more local focus, blog about events that are happening in your area.
~ Visit Yahoo Answers or an online forum that deals with your niche. Use their questions as a starting point for a post.
~ Ask your readers for ideas. Put together a quick online survey or simply ask them to comment on an ideas post.
Finally, I recommend that you keep a notebook with you at all times (even on your nightstand). You never know when a great idea forĀ a blog post may come to you. You may think that you will remember, but it is best to write it down. Not only will you record that idea but when you later review your ideas, it may spark a brainstorming session that will create even more web content ideas for your blog.
